How I work

Clarity, partnership, and outcomes — without the agency noise.

Here is how I think about the work, followed by the step-by-step process I run with every client.

Why I work this way

TechWaves is what happens when you take a senior recruitment background — Hays RPO, Lear contractor management, building a function from scratch at Bladon Micro Turbine — and strip out everything that wastes a client’s time. No junior resourcers. No keyword spam. No fee structures that reward speed over fit.

I work as an independent recruiter by choice. It keeps me close to the businesses I support, lets me build genuine partnerships, and means I can deliver senior-level hiring support without the cost or commitment of a full-time recruiter.

What fills my cup is helping companies grow and placing people who genuinely want to be there. If you want someone who tells you how it is so you don’t make costly mistakes — because I’ve seen them, time and time again — you and I will work well together.

If you’re hiring in clean energy or e-mobility and you want a partner who knows the market before they know your brief, that’s what I do.

How it works

A clear process from first conversation to signed offer. No black boxes, no surprise fees.

Most clients come to me for permanent placement, but not every conversation needs to end in a search. If you’re not yet sure what to hire, a £750 pre-hire consultancy session is often the right starting point. The process below is for the permanent search work.

1

Discovery call — 15 minutes

We talk through the role, the team, and the constraints. I’ll tell you honestly whether I’m the right fit. If I’m not, I’ll often know someone who is.

2

Hiring brief & market check — Week 1

I pressure-test the role design, salary, and seniority against what the market is actually paying. You walk away with a brief grounded in reality, not wishful thinking.

3

Search & shortlist — Weeks 2–3

I work the market directly. You get a maximum of three candidates, each interviewed against the specific deliverables for the role — not just matched on title or keywords. No CV dumps. If the brief and the shortlist don’t line up, we recalibrate the brief, not the standard.

4

Offer & onboarding — Weeks 4–8

I support the interview process, manage the offer conversation, and stay involved through onboarding. Most of my placements are still in their seats at the 3-year mark.
